Courtyard of Mosque Amr ibn Al-A'as Has Been Fully Restored
Located in Old Cairo’s Al Fustat city, the Mosque of Amr Ibn Al-A’as is the oldest surviving mosque in Egypt and Africa at large.
Restoration of the courtyard of Amr Ibn Al-A’as Mosque has officially been completed as part of the Egyptian government’s plan to develop the Al Fustat area.
Located in Old Cairo’s Al Fustat city, the Mosque of Amr Ibn Al-A’as was built in 642 AD and is the oldest surviving mosque in Egypt and Africa at large.
The mosque’s courtyard has now been transformed into an area of 12 thousand square metres, encompassing four planted walls, three fountains, and 12 flower beds as well as 174 beds for palm trees. Additionally, the courtyard’s gates also underwent development, along with the site’s reception garden, Al-Bustan walkway, and the creative centre.
