Culture Minister Meets Turki Al-Sheikh to Explore Cultural Collab

Egypt’s newly appointed Minister of Culture Gihane Zaki has held one of her first meetings since taking office with Saudi Entertainment Authority head Turki Al‑Sheikh to discuss new cultural collaborations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia - including a “major project planned for the North Coast”.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Culture in Zamalek, focused on expanding cooperation across cinema, theatre, music and cultural programming between the two countries.

During the talks, Al-Sheikh said several initiatives are currently being prepared, adding that the next phase of cooperation will carry the slogan: “We plant hope and joy.”

Among the projects discussed is “a major cultural project on the North Coast that is currently under study,” alongside other initiatives involving theatre development, cultural programming across Egypt, and joint artistic events.

Al-Sheikh also revealed plans tied to the Cairo Opera House, including a program that would see Egyptian opera performers travel to Saudi Arabia on a regular basis as part of a broader cultural exchange.
