Darb 1718 Opens Artist Call for Giza Zoo Collective Exhibition
Curated by Fatma Abodoma, Mohamed Abogabal, and Kat Lewis, the project invites artists to engage with the often unseen voices in our environments
Artists are invited to submit their work for a group exhibition with the Giza Zoo Collective at Darb 1718. Through letters, memories, and confessions, each “being” in the zoo – from animals and plants, to benches and paths – will speak in its own voice, creating a layered narrative that explores ecology and empathy from multiple perspectives. Curated by Fatma Abodoma, Mohamed Abogabal, and Kat Lewis, the project invites artists to engage with the often unseen voices in our environments to help us rethink how we live in coexistence. Located in Old Cairo, Darb 1718 is a contemporary art and culture centre featuring gallery spaces, performance stages, an outdoor cinema, gardens, rooftops, and an artist residency program. The centre supports emerging and established artists through exhibitions, workshops, and collaborative initiatives that foster creativity and community. The open call is now open with the deadline being November 7th, 2025. Selected artists will be notified by November 10th, and the exhibition will run from November 23rd to December 14th, 2025. You can find the application form here.
