Diriyah’s JAX District Honoured as Industrial Heritage Site
Originally established in the 1970s, the district has transitioned from its industrial roots to become a vibrant arts hub.
The Saudi Heritage Commission has recently recognized Diriyah’s JAX District by designating it as an industrial heritage site.
Originally established in the 1970s, the district, named after its founding company, has transitioned from its industrial roots to become a vibrant creative arts hub within the heart of Diriyah. Now a hotspot for artistic innovation, the district stands adjacent to the UNESCO world heritage site of At-Turaif, symbolising a blend of historical significance and contemporary creativity.
JAX District witnessed a transformation in the mid-2000s when commercial tenants left the premises and a community of graffiti artists repurposed the abandoned warehouses as canvases, paving the way for a burgeoning artistic scene. Today, the district boasts a unique blend of creative spaces, including galleries, studios, and cafes, alongside cultural institutions and office spaces.
