Disney+ is Finally in Egypt! Here's Everything You Need to Know

Disney+ has finally arrived in Egypt! It's time to re-animate those latent childhood memories and sink into the land of animated house pets and character dense plotlines where everyone miraculously breaks out in song every three minutes, and we're here to give you a primer on everything you need to know before you dive in and start singing along.

Expanding into 16 counties regionally, the streaming platform is bringing us colloquial Arabic iterations of our favourite animated features. That’s right, Egyptian dubs of Disney films are finally back after going MIA for a decade. Not only will you be able to revisit the classics like Monsters Inc and Toy Story in Egyptian Arabic, but we’re also getting all-new Egyptian dubs starting with Pixar’s Encanto!

It’s simple enough to get started: all you have to do is sign up through app.disneyplus.com/eg, or by downloading the Disney+ app for iOS and Android. Once you do, you’ll have the option of paying EGP 49.99 a month, or save a little money by paying EGP 498.99 for the whole year. Besides your standard computers and smartphones, Disney+ is compatible with many smart TVs, namely Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, AppleTV, Chromecast and LG TV.

Before you dust off your credit card and quite literally subscribe to the land of nostalgia, there are some essential things to note for the overprotective parents out there worried your little ones will accidentally wander off Disneyland into the Walking Dead (yeah, that’s on here). If you’re a serial mama bear then fret not; Disney+’s newly implemented parental controls let you limit your cub’s content consumption as you deem fit. Each Disney+ account can contain up to seven profiles, and each profile’s settings can be adjusted to feature specific age limits, parental guidance, and downloading options that could work on 10 different devices at the same time.

Now that all the parental admin is out of the way, let’s break down some standout movies, ‘Fusha’ Arabic iterations included of course. You’ve got your childhood classics, the princesses of your upbringing, and the animalistic tragedies of your adolescence including The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Frozen, Frozen II, and Mulan, as well as Pixar hits like the Toy Story saga, Luca, and Soul. There’s also news of an Egyptian dub of Sleeping Beauty coming soon!

Superhero fanatics can now binge all their favourite Marvel features such as new films like Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings, as well as new series like Moon Knight.

Lightsaber babies and e-boys alike can binge-watch Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Mandalorian, and all nine episodes of Star Wars. It’s National Geographic galore with documentaries including The Rescue, Free Solo, The World According To Jeff Goldblum, and Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted. And for some prime TV and movie content, you’ve got Only Murders in the Building, The Kardashians, every season of The Simpsons, Grey’s Anatomy, The Walking Dead, Avatar, and Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds.
