Donation Boxes in Mosques Have Been Banned By the Ministry of Awqaf
In-kind and cash donations in mosques will now need to follow a precise process, so that no person will be allowed to collect any cash under the mosque’s name.

The Ministry of Awqaf will prohibit the unregulated collection of money, donations, or cash assistance in mosques in an effort to curb counterfeit.
In-kind and cash donations in mosques will now need to follow a precise process, so that no person will be allowed to collect any cash under the mosque’s name. It is now strictly forbidden for any party to place any kind of donation box inside or outside a mosque.
Instead, people wishing to donate money either for a mosque or for other charitable funds will be asked to transfer their donations to the Fund for Building Mosques and Shrines at the Central Bank of Egypt (account number 9/80274/450/9), or to the charitable donations and community service account in the Central Bank of Egypt (account number 9/78899/450/9).
Mosques found in violation of this decision will be held accountable to civil law.
