Dubai Metro Blue Line Will Open in 2024
The new line will connect Dubai to nine previously unreached areas including Dubai Silicon Oasis and Dubai Festival City.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has recently announced that the new Dubai Metro Blue Line will start operating in 2024.
Spanning a distance of 30 kilometres, the new line consists of 14 stations, connecting Dubai to nine previously unreached areas, including Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1, and 2 Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Academic City, along with Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Dubai Festival City. The Dubai Metro Blue Line also features interchange stations with the Red and Green lines, providing a direct link between Dubai International Airport and the nine principal areas situated along its route.
The project aims to help reduce congestion on Dubai’s roads by 20%. Meanwhile, according to a report from the Enterprise Command and Control Centre, the number of riders using Dubai Metro’s Red and Green lines reached 260 million riders in 2023 alone, marking an increase of 15% compared to 2022.
