EGP 150 Billion Invested in Digital Infrastructure Since 2018

During his speech at the 5G and Beyond Forum, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat shared that the Egyptian government has invested over EGP 150 billion since 2018 to modernise the nation's digital infrastructure, with a particular focus on 5G technology and smart city development. He highlighted the potential of 5G to facilitate the creation of smart cities that prioritize environmental sustainability, resource efficiency, and digital inclusion.

The forum, held at the National Telecommunications Institute (NTI) in Smart Village, explored the transformative impact of 5G on various sectors, including healthcare, education and cybersecurity. Talaat pointed to Egypt's recent licensing of 5G services, set to launch soon, as well as the ongoing development of smart cities like the New Administrative Capital, which will feature advanced digital infrastructure and fiber-optic networks.

The event attracted over 400 industry leaders from global telecom companies such as Dell Technologies, Vodafone, and Huawei, all focusing on how 5G can enhance urban services and connectivity for a more inclusive future.
