Egypt & Jordan Trade Exchange Soars to USD 923 Million
Egypt and Jordan trade rises with Egyptian exports growing, while imports from Jordan also surge.
Trade between Egypt and Jordan reached USD 923 million in the first 10 months of 2024, a significant increase from USD 706 million during the same period in 2023, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Egypt's exports to Jordan rose to USD 617 million, up from USD 553 million in 2023. Key exports included fuel and mineral oils worth USD 103 million, followed by vegetable and fruit preparations at USD 53 million, and fresh vegetables and fruits at USD 50 million. Ready-made garments and electrical machinery accounted for USD 43 million and USD 38 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, Egyptian imports from Jordan surged to USD 306 million, compared to USD 153 million in 2023. The main imports were fertilisers at USD 94 million, plastics and related products at USD 44 million, and pharmaceutical products at USD 26 million. Tobacco, along with vehicles and parts, also contributed to the rise in imports.
In terms of investments, Jordanian investments in Egypt amounted to USD 21.3 million during the 2023/2024 fiscal year, a decrease from USD 40.7 million in 2022/2023. Egyptian investments in Jordan also fell, totalling just USD 4 million, down from USD 7.8 million the previous year.
