Egypt Ranks 5th Worldwide in Tomato Production
According to TrendEconomy, Egypt exported USD 12.8 million worth of tomatoes in 2020, shipping them off to nations such as Romania, Kenya, Jordan, and most of all Italy (yes really).
This fact might have us looking red in the face, but it’s just because we’re so bashful about the fact that Egypt’s ranking number five in the whole world when it comes to tomato production, according to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization. The rankings placed China, India, Turkey and the United States just over Egypt. In case you’re wondering where the rest of the top 10 are, that would be Italy (as you may expect), Iran, Spain, Mexico and Brazil.
