The country continues to lead Africa in terms of fixed internet performance.
Egypt moved up three spots in the global rankings for fixed internet speed, reaching an average speed of 76.38 Mbps in September 2024, according to the Ookla Speedtest Index. The country now holds the 70th position worldwide and continues to lead Africa in terms of fixed internet performance.
The communications and information technology sector has made concerted efforts to enhance internet services across the country. Over the past five years, this sector has consistently been the fastest-growing in Egypt, with a focus on providing high-quality internet services and advancing 5G technology.

Competing with six major international telecommunications companies, Telecom Egypt's success was attributed to its robust network infrastructure.
