Egypt Sets Its Sights on Big Wins in Paris 2024 Olympics
EGP 250 million was spent since January 1st, 2019 to prepare for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Compared to the EGP 125 million spent on Riot 2016, it represents Egypt's growing confidence in its athletes.
In 1936, during the Olympics in Berlin, Egypt won five medals. Since then, they've never been able to break that ceiling, only winning at most five medals at London, 1948 and Athens, 2004. That changed this year, at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, when Egypt won six medals.

The Egyptian handball team became the first African side to reach the semi-finals of an Olympic event, where they fell to the eventual gold medalists from France. Egypt went further than ever in fencing, and were the only nation with two participants in the final eight in the male's foil event this year. With breakthroughs like these and more, the Egyptian Olympic Committee has voiced their optimism for the Paris 2024 Olympics, where they aim to win even more medals.
EGP 250 million has been spent since January 1st, 2019 to prepare for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In comparison to the EGP 125 million spent on Riot 2016, it represents Egypt's confidence and preparedness to step up at the global stage, and the payoff it has afforded them, particularly after sending their largest delegation ever to Tokyo with 134 athletes. How much Egypt will invest in the next Olympics games has not been released, but with this year's successes, there is hope that the nation's momentum will keep going onwards and upwards. And hey, who knows, maybe one day they'll finally allow squash as an Olympic game so we can get an easy win...
