Egypt’s Life Expectancy Rises for Men & Women Through 2025
According to CAPMAS, life expectancy for men rose from 68.4 years in 2022 to 69.4 years in 2025, while life expectancy for women increased from 73.4 to 74.4 years during the same period.

The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) has reported a notable rise in Egypt’s average life expectancy at birth from 2022 to 2025, reflecting gradual improvements in public health and living standards. According to the agency’s latest demographic report, life expectancy for men rose from 68.4 years in 2022 to 69.4 years in 2025, while for women it increased from 73.4 to 74.4 years during the same period. The data maintains a consistent gender gap of about five years in favour of women. In terms of population growth, Egypt recorded 1.9 million live births in 2024, with 1.2 million in rural areas and 757,000 in urban centres, underscoring higher fertility rates in the countryside. Meanwhile, the number of deaths reached 611,400, split almost evenly between rural and urban regions, with 309,400 and 301,900 respectively. The natural population increase in 2024 stood at 1.3 million people, including 901,500 in rural areas and 455,400 in urban zones. CAPMAS also noted that the crude birth rate reached 18.5 births per 1,000 people, while the crude death rate was 5.7 deaths per 1,000, resulting in a natural increase rate of 12.8 per 1,000.
