Egypt’s Population Grows by 500 Thousand in Five Months
Egypt added another 250,000 people since January, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.

Egypt’s population has grown by half a million over the past five months, reaching 107.5 million as of April 5th, 2025, according to newly released data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The country’s domestic population stood at 107 million on November 2nd, 2024, and increased by 250,000 by mid-January 2025. A further 250,000 people were added over the following 82 days, with the figures based on real-time monitoring from national birth and death registration systems.
Cairo remains Egypt’s most populous governorate with 10.4 million residents, followed by Giza at 9.7 million and Sharqia at 8.1 million. Dakahlia ranks fourth with 7.2 million, while Beheira and Minya follow with 7 million and 6.5 million residents respectively. Other governorates with large populations include Qalyubia (6.3 million), Sohag (5.9 million), Alexandria (5.6 million), and Gharbia (5.5 million).
