Egyptian Railways to Receive Air-Conditioned Travel Class Carriages
The new air conditioned travel class cars are part of a larger deal with Russian railway company Transmashholding, which has agreed to deliver 1,300 new cars to Egypt's National Railways Authority.
The National Railways Authority is receiving air conditioned passenger cars that would be used for travel class from Russian railway company Transmashholding, which has agreed to deliver 1,300 new train cars to Egypt. This latest batch comes with four passenger cars with advanced ventilation instead of air conditioning. Overall, Transmashholding is expected to send 800 air conditioned cars, and 500 cars with advanced ventilation reserved for travel class.
By gradually replacing trains across the country, the Ministry of Transport hopes to have a fully upgraded railways system without a single outdated train or passenger operation by the end of 2021. Additionally, to ensure that they can invest in their operators and conductors as much as their railways, the Egyptian Railway Authority shared their plans to open the nation’s first transportation technology university in Egypt, which would certify workers to control and maintain any kind of transportation out there.
