Egyptian Red Crescent Will Open Field Hospitals in Gaza
A large field hospital and a number of smaller ones will be established in the Gaza Strip to alleviate the healthcare crisis.
Dr. Rami Al-Nazer, Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, has announced the forthcoming opening of field hospitals in the Gaza Strip. These field hospitals will significantly increase the clinical capacity, enabling doctors and medical staff to treat a larger number of wounded and injured individuals.
The Red Cross, Red Crescent Societies, and other humanitarian organisations are working collaboratively to establish a field hospital with a capacity of over 150 beds. The preparations are being carried out in coordination with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and the Kuwaiti field hospital. These additional facilities will operate alongside existing hospitals.
Small field hospitals are also being prepared for swift deployment to assist the health sector in Gaza. The region is currently grappling with a severe shortage of medical personnel, with over 60% of the workforce lost and hundreds of thousands of residents displaced towards the south, exacerbating the already dire health situation.
