Female Employment Rates Expected to Rise to 25% Within 2023
Currently, employed women account for 16% of the formal workforce., according to the Ministry of Planning and Development.
The Ministry of Planning and Development announced its social development vision for 2023, which includes providing 900,000 new job opportunities and increasing the rates of female employment to 25%.
Currently, employed women account for 16% of the formal workforce. The plan hopes to undo gender-based biases within the Egyptian workforce. The new job opportunities also seek to reduce unemployment within the 15 to 29 age group by 5%, down from 65% unemployment.
According to the ministry, the plan will take a holistic approach to unemployment, accounting for structural issues like gender within different communities and the informal sector.
