First Carbon Certificates Trading Company To Be Established in Egypt

Green economy projects are expanding across Egypt, with sustainable solutions leading new initiatives, investments, and products. To facilitate this transformation, the first carbon certificates trading company in Egypt will grant certificates as a financial incentive for entities to reduce carbon emissions.

Carbon certificates are designed to encourage eco-friendly practices while maintaining financial sustainability. The carbon emissions will be quantified to ‘credits’ that are priced and regulated, meaning companies with more emissions will pay more. 

The Egyptian Exchange Holding Company Markets Development, Libra Capital Group, and the Agricultural Bank of Egypt signed a framework to establish the carbon certificates company, as part of the Egyptian Stock Exchange’s vision of implementing diversified sustainable investment options.
