Global Innovation Hub to Drive Climate Action Through New Digital Site
The UN Climate Change Global Innovation Hub will launch a new site to unite innovators with investors tackling climate change.
A UN Climate Change 'Global Innovation Hub' (UGIH) at the COP27 UN Climate Change Conference in Sharm El Sheikh is set to unite the world's change makers and innovators with investors who have a demand for climate and sustainability solutions on one digital platform.
The platform is designed to enable a 'moonshot approach', where a goal is set first with innovators going to the next level in order to achieve it, instead of only meeting goals that are achievable with current technologies and solutions. In this way, the Global Innovation Hub hopes to drive a profound transformation in climate action.
During COP27, Version 1.0 of the Virtual Hub will launch, allowing government entities to collate demands for climate and sustainability solutions. Version 1.0 was co-designed with Amazon Web Services and the Open Earth Foundation. The UGIH Pavilion at COP27 will feature 80 sessions spotlighting specific innovation themes in tackling climate challenges, such as cities, digital finance and youth.
