Hewi Dubai to Add New Community Spaces in Al Barsha & Muhaisnah
New partnerships will develop Hewi Al Barsha and Hewi Muhaisnah as resident-focused public spaces across Dubai neighbourhoods.
Two new community spaces, Hewi Al Barsha and Hewi Muhaisnah, are set to be developed as part of the expanding Hewi Dubai initiative, following a partnership agreement aimed at strengthening neighbourhood life across the emirate.
The partnership brings together Dubai Municipality, the General Construction Company and Binghatti to deliver public spaces designed around residents’ daily use, social interaction and local identity.
Dubai Municipality said the collaboration supports its broader objective of enhancing quality of life by placing shared neighbourhood spaces at the centre of urban planning. The agreement was signed by Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality; Hamad Ali Saif Lootah, Chairman of the General Construction Company; and Abdullah Binghatti, Head of Sales at Binghatti, in the presence of senior officials. The municipality added that it remains open to working with additional developers and investors to extend the Hewi Dubai model to more areas in the future.
The new projects build on the first Hewi development in Nad Al Sheba 4, which reintroduced the traditional hewi as a modern neighbourhood courtyard inspired by Emirati culture. Design elements draw from the historic fareej concept, including the Dajja, a semi-open space near mosques intended for quieter gatherings, and the Saha, a flexible area designed for meetings, celebrations, and community events, with space for children to play.
Together, these elements are intended to encourage everyday social interaction, support a stronger sense of belonging, and integrate local traditions into contemporary neighbourhood design.
