Iggy Pop to Lend His Voice to Tutankhamun Documentary

Two years after the release of his eighteenth studio album, punk rock legend Iggy Pop is returning to the studio once again to, er… narrate a documentary on King Tutankhamun. Confused? Intrigued? So are we.

“The Godfather of Punk” is set to recount the discovery of King Tut’s tomb in a silver screen production coming to cinemas in 2022, 100 years after the ancient pharaoh’s tomb was uncovered in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings. The documentary, titled ‘Tutankhamun: The Last Exhibition’, will follow the pharaoh king’s most recent and final global tour before his final resting place at the Grand Egyptian Museum, a four-year exhibition consisting of 150 precious artefacts that was unfortunately cut short by the pandemic.

Given the recent hype around all things golden and pharaonic - renewed by April’s dazzling Pharaohs’ Golden Parade from Tahrir Square to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation in Fustat - it’s not surprising that Iggy Pop has jumped on board for this project. Okay, maybe just a bit surprising.
