Inter Milan has become the first international football club to secure a commercial licence in Saudi Arabia, aiming to expand its fanbase and establish local academies.
The Saudi Pro League is undergoing significant growth from the recruitment of top players and coaches, including the recent appointment of former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli. However, foreign teams face challenges when it comes to operating in the country. Inter’s acquisition of this licence marks a pivotal moment in navigating these complexities.
Saudi Arabia is becoming a hub for major football events, hosting prestigious competitions such as the Supercoppa Italiana and the Spanish Super Cup, alongside preparations for the upcoming 2030 World Cup.
The commercial licence, awarded by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Investment (MISA), is expected to bolster Inter’s brand presence in the region. Inter plans to open several academies across the country, promoting Italian values, tradition, and style beyond just the sport itself.
