Movement through the Rafah crossing has come to a halt following the capture of the facility by Israeli tanks on the Palestinian side, according to the Border Authority in Gaza. Ongoing military operations are being conducted at the crossing, according to the official, who declined to specify the duration of Israeli troop control when speaking to CNN. Video footage released by the Israel Occupation Forces depicts Israeli flags being raised on the Palestinian side of the crossing.
In Rafah, Palestinian officials reported casualties from Israeli airstrikes after Israel reaffirmed its commitment to a military offensive in southern Gaza. Israel expressed dissatisfaction with ceasefire terms proposed by Hamas, stating that they fell short of meeting its demands. Talks are set to resume on Tuesday, with Israel sending a delegation for further negotiations, as announced by Qatar.
Since October 7th, over 1 million Palestinians have sought refuge in Rafah.
