Jaheziya National Medical Readiness System Launches in the UAE

The UAE National Programme for Medical Readiness and Response, known as Jaheziya, has launched the country’s first unified, internationally accredited national training system to strengthen hospital preparedness and accelerate frontline response to medical emergencies, disasters and public health crises.
The system introduces a comprehensive framework that unifies training concepts and operational protocols across healthcare institutions. It is designed to bridge academic education with practical implementation, while establishing an integrated operational model for emergency and disaster management to support rapid decision-making during exceptional circumstances.
According to Jaheziya, the framework is built on four interconnected pillars: education, training, research and practical implementation. Specialised curricula have been developed in emergency medicine, critical care, surgery, disaster management and healthcare leadership. These programmes are aligned with current clinical evidence and international standards, while tailored to the UAE’s healthcare context.
On the training front, the system incorporates high-fidelity medical simulation, realistic mass-casualty and disaster-response scenarios, and joint in-hospital field exercises. Nationally accredited trainers are being prepared and certified to ensure sustainability and ongoing knowledge transfer across the sector.
The research pillar supports applied studies in preparedness and risk management. National key performance indicators have been introduced to measure readiness and response within healthcare facilities, identify operational gaps and inform policy and service improvements.
