The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has issued a renewed ban on exporting local sugar for three months. The ban applies to all kinds of sugar, except for an amount of surplus sugar relative to local demand, which will be determined by the ministry.
The ministry recently increased rations of free sugar to those eligible for subsidised sugar. Free sugar is currently being distributed at rates between 8,000 and 10,000 tonnes per day in all governorates.
