Major Global Travel Disruption as Fire Shuts Down London Heathrow
EgyptAir, Saudia, Emirates, and Etihad have cancelled numerous flights to and from London Heathrow after a fire at an electricity substation triggered a widespread power outage.

Major Middle Eastern airlines have cancelled multiple flights to and from London Heathrow following the sudden closure of Europe’s busiest airport.
Operations at London Heathrow were suspended early Friday morning after a significant fire broke out at a nearby electricity substation, leading to a massive power outage across the airport. The incident has disrupted travel for thousands worldwide, resulting in the cancellation of more than 1,000 flights.
In response to the disruption, Etihad Airways cancelled flights EY64 and EY66 from Heathrow to Abu Dhabi. Flights EY63 and EY65 from Abu Dhabi to Heathrow have been diverted to Frankfurt.
Emirates also cancelled numerous flights, including EK001/002, EK029/030, and EK031/032 from Dubai to Heathrow, and EK003/004, EK005/006, and EK008 from Heathrow to Dubai.
EgyptAir also announced several cancellations, impacting flights MS783, MS777, and MS779 from Cairo to Heathrow, as well as flights MS784, MS778, and MS780 from Heathrow back to Cairo.
Saudia Airlines canceled flights including SVA113 from Riyadh to Heathrow; SVA110, SVA122, and SVA112 from Heathrow to Riyadh; flights SVA117 and SVA119 from Jeddah to Heathrow; and SVA120 and SVA118 from Heathrow to Jeddah.
