Makeup Banned From Public Schools Starting With the 2025-26 Year
The Ministry of Education has announced seven new rules addressing appearance and uniforms at public schools, which will include daily inspections on makeup, nail polish, footwear, and hairstyles.

Public schools in the UAE have introduced seven new appearance and uniform rules for the start of the 2025–2026 academic year. The guidelines ban makeup, nail polish, dyed hair, and flashy accessories, requiring students to wear black shoes, white socks, and maintain natural hairstyles. Daily inspections will be carried out to ensure compliance.
The directives also address overall presentation, with officials emphasising consistency across all public schools. Families are expected to ensure students follow the rules before arriving on campus, reinforcing responsibility at home and in class.
According to the Ministry of Education, these measures are part of a wider effort to strengthen school readiness, create a structured learning environment, and maintain a unified appearance among students.
