Medical Readiness Plan Rolls Out Ahead of Grand Egyptian Museum Launch
A fully equipped medical clinic has been established inside the museum featuring diagnostic and emergency technologies.

The Ministry of Health and Population has detailed a medical and emergency plan for the Grand Egyptian Museum opening near the Giza Pyramids Plateau, centred on an on-site clinic, layered evacuation, and expanded ambulance coverage for the surrounding area.
A fully equipped medical clinic has been established inside the museum featuring diagnostic and emergency technologies, including cardiology, ultrasound and oxygen systems. The clinic will be staffed by a full medical team specialising in intensive care, emergency medicine, burns and plastic surgery. Five mobile medical service vehicles will support internal medicine, surgery and radiology. The site is directly linked to the health ministry’s central operations room and Giza’s event management command centre for real-time coordination across services.
Ambulance coverage inside the museum complex will include eight on-site ambulances, two rescue scooters, golf carts and eight dedicated rescue teams. Beyond the museum grounds, 15 ambulances will be stationed in the surrounding area, with a further 50 positioned along main access roads for rapid response and patient transfer. The medical evacuation network will operate on three levels of readiness, activating designated hospitals to receive critical cases.
Nearby hospitals assigned within the plan include Sheikh Zayed Specialist Hospital, Mabra Misr Al-Qadima, Al-Agouza Hospital and Nasser Institute Hospital, providing coverage across western Cairo.
