Ministry of Health & Population Increases Prices of Vaccines

The Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has officially approved an increase in the prices of vaccines and serums provided by the ministry at health units and centres across Egypt. The new pricing structure, which impacts a variety of preventive vaccines, is set to take effect this month. These adjustments aim to reflect the rising costs of supplied medical materials.

The revised pricing will apply to vaccines for several conditions, including yellow fever, meningitis, seasonal flu, cholera, polio and Hepatitis B. Additionally, the ministry's directive emphasises that vaccine and serum prices will continue to be adjusted in accordance with their supply costs.

The updated prices for preventive vaccinations in 2024 are as follows: the yellow fever vaccine will cost EGP 450, the meningitis vaccine EGP 300, and the seasonal flu vaccine EGP 170. The cholera and polio vaccines are both priced at EGP 80 each. For hospital staff, the Hepatitis B vaccine is set at EGP 100, while the Hepatitis B serum for needlestick injuries in private hospitals will cost EGP 1,000 per vial.

External entities, excluding medical personnel, can receive the Hepatitis B vaccine for EGP 100, while community needlestick exposure cases will require EGP 100 for the vaccine and EGP 1,000 for the serum. Any resident in Egypt, whether Egyptian or non-Egyptian, can access the Hepatitis B vaccine at EGP 100 for Egyptians and EGP 200 for non-Egyptians. For travellers, the price will be EGP 150 for Egyptians and EGP 300 for non-Egyptians.
