Ministry of Social Solidarity Secures 1,318 Jobs for Disabled Workers
The Ministry of Social Solidarity’s initiative aligns with the 2018 Persons with Disabilities Rights law.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity announced that as of December 3rd, 1,318 individuals with disabilities have secured jobs in private sector companies, factories, and banks nationwide. This initiative is a part of the government’s strategy to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workforce, in line with the 2018 Persons with Disabilities Rights law, which mandates a 5% employment quota in both public and private sectors.
The ministry has worked closely with various NGOs, private companies, and government entities to provide training programs and create job opportunities for people with disabilities. These include training on skills development, resume writing, LinkedIn professional branding and entrepreneurship. So far, 210 individuals have been trained in digital marketing, with plans to train an additional 850 in the near future.
In addition to job placements, the ministry has been developing the Taheel platform, a digital network designed to connect persons with disabilities to training, rehabilitation and employment opportunities. Launched in 2021 in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the UN Partnership to Promote the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD), Taheel has already seen engagement with over 1,500 civil society organizations and 187 private sector companies involved in supporting job seekers.
