Reduced Working Hours for Private Sector Employees During Ramadan

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced reduced working hours for private sector employees during Ramadan. Employees will work two hours less per day throughout the holy month.

Companies may implement flexible or remote work arrangements within the daily working hour limits, depending on operational requirements and the nature of their work, according to the MoHRE.

The adjustment aligns with Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021 on the Regulation of Labour Relations and its amendments. Specifically, Article 15 addresses working hours, stating that during Ramadan, working hours are reduced by two hours per day. Employers are prohibited from requiring employees to work more than five consecutive hours without a break of at least one hour.
