More Than 31 Million Use Makkah Transport Services in Early Ramadan
Shuttle services and the Makkah Bus network completed more than 700,000 trips to support access to the Grand Mosque.
More than 31 million people benefited from transport services in Makkah during the first third of Ramadan, according to the General Transport Center in Makkah.
The transport system combines shuttle operations connecting various locations to the Grand Mosque with the Makkah Bus serving the central area around the mosque.
The centre reported more than 700,000 operational trips carried out by over 2,300 buses during this period. Officials said the system helped regulate traffic flow in the central district and facilitated access to the Grand Mosque, particularly during peak Ramadan hours when visitor numbers increase significantly.
Operational data also indicated a 26.3% reduction in evacuation time across all stations. The average time required to clear stations reached 21.7 minutes, compared with the same period during Ramadan 1446.
Authorities attributed the improvement to coordinated traffic management and mobility planning aimed at easing movement for residents, visitors and pilgrims during the Ramadan season.
The General Transport Center oversees the organisation, management and development of Makkah’s transportation system and operates under the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites.
