National Telecom Authority Approves Mobile & Internet Price Hike
The price increase has been implemented due to rising operational costs faced by telecom operators.
The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has given initial approval for raising telecommunications service prices in Egypt.
Speaking during a session on 5G technology at the Cairo ICT 2024 exhibition, Mohamed Shamroukh, CEO of the NTRA, announced that the authority has preliminarily approved price increases for mobile and internet services provided by the country’s four telecom operators.
The planned price adjustments were attributed to rising operational costs faced by telecom companies, with the NTRA emphasising their right to reassess service pricing.
The NTRA is currently evaluating the optimal timing for implementing the new rates to ensure a balance between the interests of consumers and service providers. The updated pricing packages are expected to be announced soon.
