New Bike Paths Bring Dubai Closer to Its 1000 km Cycling Track Goal

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is giving the city a Ramadan gift – two new cycling tracks.

These paths, spanning 7 km in the Khawaneej and Mushrif areas, merge with existing cycling routes, adding to a network of bike paths that spans 39 km. A bike-friendly Dubai is a key component of the Dubai Urban Plan 2040.

The project seeks to enhance the quality of life for Dubai’s residents and visitors while encouraging sports and leisure activities. For that reason, the tracks strategically link key attractions. The first track starts at the Qur’anic Park, while the second begins at Mushrif Park, near the crocodile park. Both of these paths then link to the larger network.

The RTA ultimately hopes to connect all of Dubai’s major districts, extending the city’s bike track network from 544 km to 1,000 km by 2030. Eventually, the entire city of Dubai, from the marina to Al Qudra, will be easily traversable by bicycle.
