New National Award Centres Egypt’s Heritage Preservation Projects

The National Organization for Urban Harmony, under Egypt’s Ministry of Culture, has launched an annual award recognizing best practices in architectural and urban heritage preservation across Egypt’s governorates.

The award is open to individuals and architectural entities, with a focus on restoration, adaptive reuse, and context-sensitive new construction within heritage areas. In its first edition, the award will spotlight completed projects involving the rehabilitation and reuse of heritage buildings. The initiative aims to raise awareness of architectural heritage, reinforce national identity, and promote sustainable urban development.

The judging panel includes faculty members from Cairo University and Ain Shams University, alongside experts in architecture, urban planning, and environmental economics. Submissions must adhere to established standards of conservation, sustainability, and innovation.

Application details and eligibility criteria are available on the official website of the National Organization for Urban Harmony.
