No More Netflix & Chill? Netflix Strikes Down Password Sharing

For most, breakups are synonymous with an electronic journey where you sever all your ties to shared streaming platform passwords. However, there’s something about Netflix sharing in particular that is almost always kept far beyond the relationship’s - and subscription’s - expiration date. How do you psych yourself up for a Netflix breakup after your actual breakup? Well if your ex is still leeching off of your account, you no longer need worry, as Netflix is now killing off password sharing for good.

The new policy is expected to start rolling out in the United States early in 2023. Netflix announced that it will implement a charge for people who want to share their passwords with anyone outside of their household, and plans to introduce their new charge for password sharing across the world - including the MENA region - throughout the year.

Netflix will manage the process and ensure the policy is ascribed to through IP addresses, device user IDs and account activity.
