Non-Saudis Now Constitute Nearly Half of the Kingdom’s Population
The kingdom’s population reached 35.3 million by mid-2024, with non-Saudis accounting for 44.4% of the total population.
According to the latest estimates from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), Saudi Arabia’s population grew at an annual rate of 4.7% from mid-2023, and reached a total of 35.3 million by the middle of 2024. Saudi citizens accounted for 55.6% of the total population, whilst non-Saudis represented 44.4%. From mid-2023 to mid-2024, Saudi Arabia has witnessed an annual increase of 1.6 million in the number of people.
The total population of Saudis exceeded 19.6 million by mid-2024, compared to 19.3 million in mid-2023, marking an annual growth rate of 2%. The population of non-Saudis grew by 1.2 million in the same period, marking an 8.2% increase.
The report also found that Saudis aged 0-14 constitute 33.5% of the total population, compared to 8.6% for non-Saudis of the same age group. Saudis aged 15-64 account for 62.7% of the population, compared to 89.9% for non-Saudis.
The average fertility rate for the total population reached two births for every 1,000 women. The fertility rate for the Saudi population reached 2.7 births for 1,000 women and 0.8 births for non-Saudis. The report also estimates that the average life-expectancy for the Saudi population is 78 years old.
