One-Month Temporary Fees Applied to Support Civil Projects
Surcharges on cinema tickets, rail fares and postal services will fund associations for one month.
Additional temporary fees will be applied in Egypt for one month to support projects run by associations and civil institutions, under Decision No. 82 of 2026 issued by the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
The measure takes effect from the day following publication and will remain in force for a defined period of one month. Under the decision, temporary surcharges set out in Article 2 bis of Law 63 of 1942 will be collected on tickets to enter cinemas and amusement venues, as well as on railway tickets issued for first and second classes.
Fees will also apply to telegraph and telex messages, in addition to postal letters.
The scope and categories of the surcharges follow the stipulations of the 1942 law, applied specifically for the limited one-month duration stated in the decision.
Proceeds from these temporary fees will be credited to the Fund to Support Projects of Associations and Civil Institutions, in accordance with Law 149 of 2019 regulating the practice of civil work.
