Over 100,000 Users Engage With Egypt’s Online Mental Health Platform
A significant majority of users were made up of youth and unemployed individuals.

Since its launch in March 2022, the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment’s online platform has registered 100,897 visitors, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. This initiative offers free mental health services, addiction treatment and psychological counselling, aiming to provide accessible care to all residents in Egypt.
The platform has facilitated over 10,767 virtual treatment sessions and received 23,744 completed electronic questionnaires, providing valuable insights into the demographics of its users. Notably, women constitute 69% of the platform’s visitors, while men account for 31%. 82% of users are unmarried, with teenagers and young adults being the most active demographics. Employment status also plays a role, as 63% of users are unemployed, highlighting the platform’s reach among vulnerable populations.
This platform stands as the first of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean region, providing services to both Egyptians and non-Egyptians residing in the country. The platform’s success underscores the growing acceptance and utilisation of digital mental health services in Egypt, marking a significant step towards integrating technology with healthcare to meet the population’s needs.
