Palestinian Actor Adam Bakri Joins Egyptian Series 'Love and War'

Palestinian actor Adam Bakri has joined the cast of the Egyptian TV drama series 'Love and War', slated to air during Ramadan 2026. The series is directed by Peter Mimi and written by Ammar Sabry, and features Menna Shalaby, Eyad Nassar, and Palestinian actor Kamel El Basha among its principal cast. The series revolves around a love story set amid Israel’s two-year war on Gaza, with hope and survival presented as central themes within the narrative. Director Peter Mimi’s previous television works include 'El Ekhteyar' and 'El Hashashin'. Bakri’s breakthrough came with 'Omar' (2013), directed by Hany Abu-Assad, which received an Academy Award nomination and won the Tanit d’Or at the Carthage Film Festival (2014) as well as the Special Jury Prize in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section (2013). He received Best Actor at the Malmö Arab Film Festival (2013). His subsequent screen work includes 'Ali and Nino' (2016), 'Slam' (2018), 'Official Secrets' (2019), 'A Gaza Weekend' (2022), and 'All That’s Left of You', which won the Silver Yusr for Best Feature Film at the Red Sea International Film Festival in December 2025. Bakri recently attended the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, held from November 12th to 21st, where he led a talk titled 'Adam Bakri: Between Identity and Performance'.
