A Nostalgic Guide to Saudi Road Trip Snacks
We'll be covering nostalgic bites and sips that turn every drive into a shared memory.
With summer edging closer, so is the annual ritual of packing for long drives in the car. Somewhere between the playlist, the overpacked bags and the inevitable fuel stop, snacks become part of the structure of the ride itself. And in Saudi Arabia, a few snacks have become so frequently packed that they've become synonymous with the very concept of a road trip.
We’ve curated a list of the classics — the snacks that have been part of the journey just as much as the destination.

Tasali
Arguably the most iconic Saudi chips that you cannot get enough of. Whether your go to flavour is Ketchup, Chilli and Lemon, or any of the others, you can never go wrong with this one.

Abu Walad Biscuits
If you’re a biscuit fanatic, this cream-filled sandwich biscuit is a must-have. This tea-time staple somehow always makes its way into every car ride whether you wanted it or not, not that anyone would ever turn down one.

Tutti Frutti
This colourful, fruity, flavour-packed candy is perfect snacking material. It’s an easy sweet fix, and the mix of heart, frog, and butterfly shapes just makes it all the more enjoyable.

Safari Chocolate Bar
By swapping the usual wafer for a soft cake, this chocolate bar somehow feels heartier on long drives, and the mix of chocolate, caramel and crunchy bits never lasts long in the car – especially once the sun hits it. Just right for mid-road sugar fixes or sharing.

Al Batal Chips
That loud crunch that cuts through whatever’s playing in the car. The bag gets passed around, then passed back, then quietly finished – often enough of a reason to spark a quiet argument.

Nestle’s Toffo
These chewy toffee caramel sweets are worth the endless jaw-crushing chewing. This is one of those sweets where no one can ever blame you for eating too many of them.

Americana Swiss Rolls
Slightly squashed at the bottom of a bag, pulled out hours into the trip. Not the first thing you reach for but always eaten anyway – this is a classic that any cake lover could never say no to.

Tofiluk
A crunchy caramel biscuit bar coated in milk chocolate, often with little Tai-Luk candy pieces tucked inside. It’s sweet, creamy, and just the right amount of sticky – the kind of snack you pick at slowly during a long drive, only to realize the whole bar’s gone before you notice. Multipacks mean there’s usually enough for everyone in the car… or not.

Shani Soda
Sweet, fizzy, and bright red, with a berry-and-grape flavour that’s instantly recognizable. You grab it without thinking, and somehow the pack disappears before anyone notices.

Suntop
The ultimate nostalgic childhood drink – sweet, simple and somehow impossible to get tired of. Always the go-to on a long drive and somehow it just feels right in the mix of snacks and backseat chaos no matter how old you are.

Vimto
Tart, fruity and a little different from everything else. Somehow it always finds its way into snack time, and once it’s poured, it’s gone before anyone realises.
