Photopia Opens Applications for Sponsored Trips to Cairo Photo Week
Photopia and the EU are offering fully funded spots to artists outside Greater Cairo to attend this year’s Cairo Photo Week.

Photopia, in collaboration with the European Union and EUNIC Egypt, is offering 15 emerging Egyptian photographers a fully funded opportunity to attend the 2025 edition of Cairo Photo Week. The initiative invites photographers from all governorates outside Greater Cairo (Cairo, Giza and Qalyubia) to spend a week in the capital, engaging with the country's premier photography festival from May 8th to the 18th in Downtown Cairo.
Cairo Photo Week is a 10-day visual storytelling festival organised by Photopia in partnership with the Ismailia Real Estate Investment Company. The event brings together photographers from Egypt, Africa and the Middle East, while also drawing international attention. It features a robust programme of exhibitions, panel discussions, portfolio reviews, networking events and hands-on experiences—many of which are tailored to support and train emerging image-makers.
The initiative specifically targets early and mid-career photographers, offering them exposure and access to Cairo’s leading photography event. The selected 15 photographers will be chosen by a specialised jury and will receive coverage for round-trip travel to Cairo, seven days of accommodation, and a modest daily allowance. They will also receive full access to the festival’s activities, including opportunities to participate in free workshops and portfolio reviews.
Participants must attend at least 75% of the activities relevant to their interests, and are required to submit artistic reports and documentation that reflect their learning outcomes and key takeaways from the experience.
Applications are open until 11:59 PM on April 15th, 2025.
