Prime Minister Assures No More Changes in Petrol Prices for 6 Months
His remarks follow the Petroleum Pricing Committee’s decision to raise petrol and diesel prices as of October 18th.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that while the Egyptian government will gradually increase fuel prices until the end of 2025, there will be no further changes to petrol prices for the next six months.
His remarks came after the Petroleum Pricing Committee (PPC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced a rise in petrol and diesel prices.
The prime minister made this statement during a press conference in Minya, where he toured Samalut Central Hospital, accompanied by Minister of Local Development Manal Awad, Minister of Housing Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, and Minya Governor Major General Emad Kadwany.
As of October 18th, the price of 80-octane petrol increased from EGP 12.25 to EGP 13.75 per litre; 92-octane petrol rose from EGP 13.75 to EGP 15.25; and 95-octane petrol went up from EGP 15 to EGP 17 per litre.
Diesel prices climbed from EGP 11.5 to EGP 13.5 per litre, while industrial mazut rose from EGP 8,500 to EGP 9,500 per tonne. Additionally, car gas prices were adjusted from EGP 6.5 to EGP 7 per cubic metre, inclusive of VAT.
