Rania Al-Mashat Named Commissioner to Global Development Coalition

Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s former minister of planning, economic development and international cooperation, has been appointed as a commissioner to the Future of Development Cooperation Coalition, a new global platform focused on reforming development frameworks.

The coalition is co-hosted by the Center for Global Development and the African Center for Economic Transformation, and will hold its inaugural meeting during the World Bank–IMF Spring Meetings 2026 in Washington, D.C..

The initiative brings together policymakers, economists and development experts to examine how international cooperation can better support sustainable growth and economic transformation in the context of shifting global conditions.

It is co-chaired by Arancha González Laya and Yemi Osinbajo, with commissioners representing regions across Africa, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

The coalition aims to strengthen the role of developing economies in shaping development cooperation, while addressing challenges linked to climate change, technological shifts and geopolitical pressures through more flexible, country-driven approaches.
