Saudi Arabia’s Largest Saltwater Surf Pool to Open in March

Saudi Arabia’s largest saltwater surf pool is set to open on March 1st, 2026, as part of Adrena, a new adventure and entertainment district on the Red Sea.

The purpose-built pool stretches 215 metres and will generate manmade waves reaching up to 2.1 metres, allowing surfers to ride ocean-style breaks within a controlled setting. The development is positioned as the first project of its kind in the region, combining more than 20 land and water-based experiences within a single coastal destination.

Developed by the team behind The Red Sea and Amaala, Adrena is located a short drive from Shura Island and is designed to serve guests from nearby resorts and surrounding coastal areas. Alongside the surf lagoon, daytime attractions will include a wakeboarding lake, snorkelling trails, a six-metre-deep diving pool, a children’s water play area and a floating inflatable obstacle course.

Land-based facilities will feature a skatepark, a BMX pump track, an overwater zip line and a 10-metre-high ‘flip ‘n’ fly’ slide, in addition to designated areas for beach football and volleyball.
After sunset, the site will operate a beach club with an infinity pool and a curated music programme. The food offering will centre on South American cuisine, accompanied by a selection of non-alcoholic beverages.

The project incorporates accessibility measures, including zero-depth entry points at several pools and adaptable options for bodyboarding, paddleboarding, diving and snorkelling.
Its water management system uses a closed-loop process that draws in seawater, filters and circulates it through the attractions, and then returns it to the ocean. Any freshwater used on site will be recycled for irrigation.
