Saudi Industrial Production Rises 8.9% in December 2025

Saudi Arabia’s Industrial Production Index increased 8.9% year on year in December 2025, reaching 113.6 compared to 104.3 in December 2024, according to data released by the General Authority for Statistics.

Mining and quarrying activity recorded the strongest annual growth, rising 13.2% as oil production increased to 10.1 million barrels per day from 8.9 million barrels per day a year earlier. The index of oil activities advanced 10.1% year on year, while non-oil activities grew 5.8%.

Manufacturing expanded 3.2% annually, supported by a 13.4% rise in chemicals output and a 7.3% increase in food production. In contrast, the electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply sub-index declined 2.5% year on year. Water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities increased 9.4% over the same period.

On a monthly basis, the Industrial Production Index edged down 0.1% in December compared to November. Mining and quarrying activity rose 0.3% month on month, while manufacturing also increased 0.3%, driven by a 2.8% rise in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products. Food manufacturing grew 9.6% compared to November.

Oil activities declined 0.3% month on month, while non-oil activities recorded a 0.4% increase. The Industrial Production Index tracks changes in industrial output across mining, manufacturing, utilities and waste management sectors, in line with the International Standard Industrial Classification framework.
