The Saudi Space Agency has officially opened the Concurrent Design Facility (CDF), which will be used to accelerate the planning and streamline the execution of space missions. Using concurrent engineering and advanced simulation techniques, feasibility study times are expected to be reduced by 75%, and the costs of system design by up to 50%.
This inauguration comes as part of the agency’s efforts to consolidate and improve Saudi Arabia’s position in the international space research industry. The new facility will also serve as a hub for collaboration between industry professionals, for further innovation and learning.
The Saudi Space Agency has also recently announced its adoption of an initiative expected to help optimise operational efficiency and foster intra-agency cooperation, named the Integrated Mission Lifecycle.
