Sharjah Taxi to Fully Convert Fleet to Hybrid Vehicles by 2027

Sharjah Taxi plans to convert 100% of its fleet to hybrid vehicles by 2027 as part of a broader strategy to reduce vehicle emissions and support greener mobility across the emirate. The transition aligns with Sharjah’s environmental vision and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
The company said it has already begun operating environmentally friendly hybrid vehicles that run on both fuel and electricity, with the transition set to continue across its entire network over the next two years.
Passenger numbers rose sharply in 2025, with Sharjah Taxi transporting more than 9.31 million passengers, an increase of over 25% compared to 2024. Of these, around 917,000 trips were booked through the Yango smart application, while approximately 760,000 passengers were served across the Eastern and Central regions of the emirate.
Sharjah Taxi operates a wide range of services, including city and airport taxis, women-only taxis, family taxis, luxury limousine services, school transport through the Rafaq programme, and specialised services for people of determination. It also manages taxi operations in Sharjah’s Eastern and Central regions.
