Statue of Ancient Egyptian Goddess Bastet Sold at Bonhams London

Renowned international auction house, Bonhams London, recently hosted an auction featuring an array of Egyptian and Roman antiquities. Among the standout pieces was a magnificent bronze statue of Bastet, the ancient Egyptian cat goddess, which fetched an impressive sum of GBP 60,000.

The auction also showcased a canopic jar crafted from Egyptian limestone, adorned with a human head, valued at an estimated GBP 8,300. Another notable sale was that of an Egyptian limestone statue, commanding a price of GBP 11,520.

Additionally, an ancient bronze statue of Isis, the revered Egyptian goddess, embellished with inlaid eyes and depicted sitting on a regal throne was on display and was initially estimated to be worth GBP 2,304.

The auction's offerings also included an Egyptian limestone statue of Sekhem-ankh-Ptah, a highly regarded official during the Fifth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom. Although its estimated value ranged between GBP 200,000 and GBP 300,000, it ultimately sold for GBP 267,000.
