Students Aged 15 & Above Can Now Access Government Services At School

Students aged 15 and above in the UAE will now be able to access key government services directly at school, following the launch of a new initiative by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security.
Under the programme, known as Basma 15, dedicated authority teams will visit schools to conduct fingerprint enrolment on campus. The step is a core biometric requirement for accessing a range of government services and would typically require students and their parents to visit customer service centres in person.
By hosting fingerprint enrolment within schools, the initiative aims to simplify procedures for families, reduce travel and waiting times, and make government services more accessible to teenagers. The authority said the approach maintains official identity standards while bringing services closer to users as part of its wider digital transformation efforts.
The school-based enrolment also supports the electronic updating of the national population registry, allowing student biometrics to be securely captured and linked to official records. Introducing the process in a familiar school environment is intended to ease first-time users into government systems, while any additional service steps will continue to follow existing official channels.
